Les
Fourgs :
- Perched at an altitude of 1100 m and known as the
"Roof of the Haut-Doubs",
Les Fourgs is the highest village of the Doubs department,
enjoying exceptional snow conditions and sunshine
– blissfully free of the early morning mist
shrouding the valley below.
- In the winter months, there are 100 km
of pistes to choose from in a landscape reminiscent
of the Far North, while from spring to autumn these
same tracks are transformed into superb footpaths
and mountain bike circuits.
- The impressive and interesting castle of Château
de Joux is open to visitors throughout the year.
In summer, you can enjoy a wide choice of musical
and theatrical entertainment during the "Festival
des nuits de Joux" (Joux Night Festival).
- Sturdy-legged cows are a ubiquitous sight on the
surrounding mountain pastures. You will long associate
in your mind the distant tinkling of their bells in
the evening as milking time approaches, or the nearer
sound as the sun rises above the morning mist, with
happy days spent among the "Bourris", as
the inhabitants of Les Fourgs are
called.
